Welcome!

A very warm welcome to my blog. My name is Callum, and I was born and raised in (not so) sunny Scotland. I work as a freelance writer, producing content that is primarily used for blogs, websites, magazines and such like.

I love my job, not least because it means I can do it from home, i.e. minimal human contact and cats on my lap whilst I work (what’s better than that, I ask you?). My biggest hope is to be able to increasingly focus on my own creative writing as well, having released both fiction and poetry in the past. Here’s hoping there will be more to come in the future.

I enjoy reading rather a lot too, so this blog will hopefully document little snapshots of my bookish and writerly life, as well as some other random bits and pieces here and there should they take my fancy. Thank you for stopping by; why not grab a cup of tea and have a ‘lil browse. I hope you stick around and like what you read.

  1. Writing is the best occupation ever! Congratulations on publishing a book – I have a feeling there will be many more. Thank you for sharing your writing here on WP. 🙂 I’ll try my hardest to visit again soon.

  2. I’m glad that you liked my post “Watering our words,” and that you will visit often. By the way, I read your post about your notebooks and writing style. I, too, have notebooks scattered about and tucked into any bag I am likely to carry – just in case. I do quite a bit of research, planning and character development before I start writing. However, I’ve found it simply to be a starting point. Like yours, my characters reveal more of themselves as I write.

    • No problem at all. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I feel the very same; however much I may plan certain things, it’s when I start writing that the creative juices really start flowing 🙂

      • Thanks for continuing to read, and I’m glad that you like “Focus on the important stuff.” My days seem to slip away, and sometimes I can just see those grains of sand funneling through the hourglass. Hopefully, I’m on track now to do the stuff that matters.

  3. Thanks for stopping by my blog and the follow. I browsed some of your post, and you have very poetic prose. I’m looking forward to exploring more. 🙂

  12. Hello, my friend. I wanted to say I finished ‘The Vessel’ today! Fantastic read. I’ve left a review for you on Amazon.co.uk and Goodreads. I will be checking out your other book as soon as I can too. Take care Callum, and thank you for all your support 🙂

      • You’re always welcome, my friend. It’s the least I can do and I truly enjoyed it, although I am sorry it took so long for me to get round to reading. I cannot wait to read your other books now and will be getting them as soon as I can 🙂

  18. I don’t know much about you, but I just find you truly inspirational. I’m working on my debut novella too and it inspires me so much to see someone from wordpress doing almost exactly what I would love to do one day. Your achievements are seriously amazing, keep up the good work!
