  1. Oh dear, this sounds very silly. I’m not a fan of speculative elements being tossed into thrillers without thought being given to how this affects the overall tone of the novel (see also Sarah Pinborough’s Behind Her Eyes) so I think I’ll give this a miss!

  2. Ah, unexplored magical realism elements can be so disappointing. Atmospheric cat-and-mouse sounds appealing but it is a shame the twist is obvious! We need more books that hit both points, atmosphere AND surprise!
