  1. So happy to hear this production is in great shape! And booking tickets years in advance— something that only really happens in theatre, and so, so worth it when the show is great.

  2. I’m so glad that you had the chance to see this play! I saw War Horse several years ago in Toronto and was really blown away by the design and the puppetry as well.

I remember being less thrilled with the audience member (a forty-something mom) who wore jeans, sneakers, and an I heart vampires t-shirt to the theatre!

  3. SO glad you enjoyed this so much! I saw it on Broadway back in… 2011, something like that? So it’s been a while but it remains one of my most vivid theatre memories. The puppetry is just out of this world and it was such an emotional ride from start to finish without feeling manipulative, which is tricky when it comes to animal stories. I really need to read the book at some point!

    • Yes, exactly! Animals are so often used as a means to manipulate an audience (hence why I roll my eyes the moment one turns up in a horror movie), but every emotional gut punch in this felt earned.

  4. This looks incredible! I saw a Cirque du Soleil performance last summer that I think used similar puppetry. It was honestly breathtaking and I imagine this must have been similar. I’m glad you got to see it!
