  1. I’m still impressed that we read at pretty much the exact same pace all year, I finished at 133! I just removed Ice from my TBR after reading your review, the premise sounded interesting but all of the issues you had would undoubtedly bug me as well. Your assessment of Winter has me VERY wary, I’ve enjoyed Ali Smith so far and was looking forward to her seasonal quartet but then you used the MR word 😂 So we’ll see what I make of that!

    • I’d normally feel bad about dissuading someone from trying a book they had previously been excited about, but if I spared you the same reading experience I had with Ice, I can’t say I’m sorry.

I’m very intrigued to see how you’ll get on with the seasonal quartet. As soon as a floater in someone’s eye was presented as a floating human head following them around, I thought, ‘uh oh, Rachel might hate this.’ 😂 Still, in contrast to Kavan’s style, Smith’s wordplay and timely themes were enough to keep me engaged, so hopefully you’ll enjoy them!

  2. I’ve been blogging five-and-a-half years, and not once have I heard anyone mention The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus by L. Frank Baum. Now, this year, I feel like everyone is reading it! Was it just discovered in some dank attic and published in 2018??
