  1. I just ordered Asking For It the other day and now I’m even more excited for it to arrive. When we talk about sexual assault, I can’t stand when we phrase it like ‘x is so nice, she didn’t deserve that’ as if some women do. I can’t wait to read a book that challenges that. And I love all of the book covers you chose for the girl on the cover question, I need to look into these!

    • Exactly! It would have been so easy for O’Neill to present the book’s protagonist as a stereotypical ‘perfect’, innocent, sweet girl. By actually making her decidedly unlikable instead, it’s like a direct challenge against the readers’ preconceptions and ingrained prejudices.

  2. Great book tag Callum. Adding Asking For It to my list of books to read and I have also just checked out The Tidal Zone and definitely need (not want) to read that one. I’m with you and Hannah on the cover – beautiful. You do know that if I ever end up reading Harry Potter it will be because you have slowly brainwashed me haha!!

  3. Great answers, especially the female bee perspective – that’s certainly a unique feminine POV! The One Hundred Nights of Hero sounds really interesting and I’ll definitely be adding it to my to-read list.
