May has been a great month for reading, as I managed to finish 11 books (8 novels, 2 graphic novels and a poetry collection). This was my most productive month as yet and took my total so far this year up to 44 – which considering I set my target for the entire year at 40 was a very nice surprise! I had never actually tracked how much I manage to read before so it’s been an interesting and pleasant learning curve to discover I read more than I thought I did.
I’ve subsequently doubled my target to 80. If I can keep up the pace, I’ll hopefully manage to reach it without too much trouble.
As for this month, standout reads for me were the first 2 volumes of Saga, Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden and The Girl with all the Gifts by M.R. Carey. I also read a collection of all Shakespeare’s sonnets, which was more a bucket list read than anything, so I was happy to tick that one off the list.
Here’s to more exciting reading ventures for us all in June!
How are you getting on with your reading goals? Any standout reads so far this year?
